A Wisconsin native and Badger alumnus, Freddie Owens is a veteran NCAA Division I coach with a reputation for elite player development and defensive strategy. With a coaching resume spanning the country’s most competitive conferences—including the Big Ten, Pac-12, and the Big 12—Freddie is committed to building winning cultures. Whether on the sidelines or through his writing, his mission remains the same: helping athletes and leaders reach their full potential on and off the hardwood.

The Signature Moment: Delivered one of the most iconic shots in Wisconsin history—a game-winning three-pointer against Tulsa to propel the Badgers to the 2003 Sweet 16.

Global Veteran: Played professionally in Estonia and Latvia, gaining an international perspective on leadership and cultural adaptability. His global travels include Germany, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Antigua, Ireland, Jamaica, and Sweden.

Academic Foundation: Holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism from UW-Madison and a Master’s in Higher Education from Iowa State University. Currently a Health and Physical Education teacher in the Green Bay Area.
